Social Media Literacy
You know what I plan on teaching my kids, like, ASAP? Social media literacy. I want them to have the critical thinking skills they need to use social media in the ways that work for them.
And since most of us grew up before the days of Instagram and Snapchat…we've had to kind of figure it out for ourselves.
Oh, and when it comes to social media marketing for business? Well, yeah, noone taught me that in high school.
So, let's do a little Social Media Literacy for Business Owners 101!
(I promise I'm a fun teacher.)
1. Prioritize quality content and visuals over reach and likes
{Because vanity metrics feel good now, but quality content is what will affect engagement, authentic relationships, and sales}
2. Understand buyer behaviour and sales psychology
{Because when you know how people think, feel, and act when it comes to buying, you're able to leverage that knowledge for effective content}
3. Operate as a marketer, not an influencer
{Because marketing and influencing have two totally different strategies}
4. Practice social listening
{Because your audience will tell you what they need and want!}
When you can think critically about your social media marketing, it feels way less overwhelming. It stops being about emotion and taking things personally and starts being about strategy. Or, if complete outsourcing is your preferred next step, MCAT is happy to do it for you! Full service social media marketing so you can focus on your zone of genius!
