Identifying your Differentiator
“The market is so saturated at this point - I might as well just give up."
Has that thought even crossed your entrepreneurial brain? If so, you're definitely not alone. But I do have a question I want you to think about before you throw in the towel.
Is the market really saturated, or do you just not know what sets you apart?
This is going to sound really cheesy, but there is only one you, and you're going to be perfect for the right people!
And that's why one question I ask every single client is this:
What is your differentiator?
I gotta tell you, though, hardly anyone knows how to answer that right off the bat. It's hard to see yourself and your business objectively because you're just so IN IT all the time!
So, let's take a few minutes to brainstorm what makes your brand uniquely YOU, so that you can infuse that into your messaging and marketing.
What are your values? How do they show up in tangible ways in your business?
What experience do you have that has shaped the way you do business?
What are your greatest strengths? What do clients or customers comment positively on and you think, “oh, I didn't even realize I did that”?
What gaps in your industry or niche are you filling, or what problems are you solving in a different way?
Who specifically are you targeting with your marketing, and how can you specifically relate to their experience?
It might take some time and some trial and error, but getting clear on your differentiator is going to make your marketing more effective and help you show up and talk about your business all over socials.
Uniquely me,
Sarah
