Prep for Summer

Do you hear that?

It's the sweet sweet sound of summer, and it's almost here!

I don't know about you but I'm planning to spend as much time as possible floating in my pool this summer.

Well, that and keeping my 4 children alive.

Whether you're staying close to home or spending 8 weeks trekking to and from your cottage, I'm guessing that content creation is probably going to take a backseat.

But just because you've got other plans, doesn't mean that your audience is going to stop consuming your content, looking for support, or planning for fall 2024.

So let's take a few minutes to decide how you're going to prep your Instagram for the summer.

Option 1: BATCH!

If you're in the “let's get this out of the way so I can take some serious time off” kinda mood, spend the rest of June batching your summer content. Create 2 grid posts/reels for each week in July and August. Aim to show up in your stories in real time 3 days per week, or batch some sequences that you can post throughout the summer.

Option 2: PLAN!

If you're in the “I hate batching but I need to get my stuff together” camp, spend the rest of June planning for your summer content.

First, pick one day per week in July and August that you'll spend creating that week's content. Set the time aside by actually putting it in your calendar - you'll be way more likely to stick to the plan! Then, brainstorm content ideas for reels, posts, and stories, so that your summer is spent implementing instead of thinking. Again, aim for 2 grid posts/reels per week, and 3 days of stories.

Whether you're team batch or team plan, I want you to remember that it's more important to stay present and consistent than it is to reinvent the wheel all summer.

Don't be afraid to recycle and repurpose.

It's not just good for the environment, it's also good for your sanity. Use content from previous blog posts, emails, or Instagram posts. Freshen up the graphic, apply it to a current trend, or approach it from a new angle. Dig into your story archives and repost any evergreen content you find, or use the inspiration to create a new sequence of stories.

See ya on the gram!
